Why recycle your clothes?

Donation ≠ disposal

Restrictions around fit, modesty, and garment condition mean that a large portion of clothes never reach thrift or second-hand markets.

Thrifting is a niche

While it’s growing in popularity, most garments aren’t accepted by thrift stores due to wear, style, or quality issues.

High water footprint

It takes thousands of liters of water to make a single cotton shirt—recycling gives that water a second life rather than letting it go to waste.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

We recycle them into new fibres and textiles to make new products. Our amazing team of rural women helps in sorting and recycling the clothes.

  • Firstly, with the help of our rural eco warriors we sort the clothes into different categories, based on color, compositions (cotton, polyester, etc) and other important parameters.
  • After sorting, we remove all non-clothing elements like buttons, zippers, tags etc.
  • Once the clothes are sorted and everything else is removed, they are shredded into smaller pieces in preparation for recycling.
  • Finally, our recycling machinery converts them into new fibres and textile material.

Reuse via donation, or any other way is always the better option. However, most of the donated clothes are eventually dumped because of mismatching sizes, personal preferences, lack of storage, etc.

The pickup charges are for the logistical service involved in doing a door-to-door pickup across the country. You can send the clothes yourself to our facility directly by courier. Alternatively, you can use one of our free collection points.

We don’t charge anything for recycling. 💚

No, we do not pay money for old clothes. The value of old clothes barely covers the costs of recycling and logistics. Plus, we pay more than fair wages to our rural workforce, which makes the cost of our operation high.

  • Help us organise a collection drive in your area, office, school, college.
